I read the article “Not-So-Great Expectations for Presidents in
Fourth Year” which was published on November 14, 2011. This article is about how President Obama has not had an accomplished fourth year and how other presidents in the past have not had a remarkable fourth year either. Also, Obama comments that Congress is not or has not attempted any change and that if Congress does not do anything, Obama will. This article creates a negative bias against Congress because it implies that it is not allowing presidents to ratify logical decisions. In addition neither Obama nor any other past president like Bill Clinton or Franklin Roosevelt has truly made any significance in his fourth year because Congress never allowed them.

I read the article “Crowded Republican Field Likely To Remain That Way” which was published on November 25, 2011.

According to the article, numerous of the Republic candidates are commencing to release their claws now that the elections appear nearer convincing candidates to pursue their own way of gaining votes while grasping them by their beliefs or talents such as Michelle Bachmann as she recently published a novel or Santorum who begins to meddle with the conflicting topic: abortion now that their campaign money appears very very fragile and miniscule unlike when the elections first commenced. Although multiple of them have been plummeting as the battle continues, but are not left out try to gain audience accompanied by three main runner ups, but this only continues.

This article shows a positive aspect of Congress as it represents data of the manner others in both parties win the hearts of many: being strong activists political “purity” traveling to frugal areas to greet personally their supporters or simply natives. Because of determination, many of the candidates prepare for the sake if they win and perhaps if they lose, but not leaving without having a fight giving them a reason to show their other colleagues their backbone and claws.

Learned by glancing at this article, I learned that politics can be a double edged sword with the starting of elections to the very end seeing which candidates keep their feet on the ground and which go straight to cloud nine as they gain power witnessing the true ways candidates and leaders gain votes: the pure way or the dark manner. A lesson, shocking and astute, may be that although many believe those with power abuse of it proven false as they rather desire purity than the amount of votes shown in polls.

I read the article Lawmakers Seek Social Security Checks Protections which was published on November 21, 2011.

So basicly, congress is trying to make the Social Security Administration mor secure. Congress is trying to do this because a lot of people are taking advantage of it, and crongress is trying to make sure this money doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. After what happened to Linda Ann Wetson congress is making sure tha the disabled people aren’t taken advantege of and that the payees that recieve tht money aren’t stealling the money. Some of the good things about congress doing this is that they are making the payees make a list of things that in which they write what they spend the money on. Aslo another thing is that congress are making the payees pledge to only spending the money only on the people they are representing. Yet, something that is a downfall about making a list of what they are spending the maney on is that the payees could be lying and could be making up anything so they won’t get introuble. Also, congress making the people pleged won’t actually do anything good because people are still going to get some of that money and spend it on themselves. Somethings that I ‘ve learn about congress is that congress is trying to help people, but somtimes they dont really think about how its going to affect the people they are trying to help.

I read the article Gingrich: Cutting Off Gasoline Would Contain Iran which was published on November 23, 2011. According to the article Iran could be taken down in a year if together allies made a plan rather than put the attention on specific tactics. If gasoline sales to Iran were stopped along with ruining their refineries then this would stop Iran’s hopes of creating nuclear weapons making them less of a threat. But one former House speaker says that in order for Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon things in Tehran would first have to change although other republicans have different ideas of how to control Iran. This can be seen as a negative comment towards congress because this issue with Iran does not appear to be something people can settle on even though it poses great importance. From this i learned that Congress not only deals with problems our country has with itself but also with other problems countries may have with one another and they think about how it may affect them.

I read the article New Deficult Deal Proving Elusive As Deadlines Nears which was published on November 18,2011. According to the article the two groups the Replubicans and Democrats have continued a meeting against eachother and the deadine will be on this Thanksgiving. Something that is positive about this article is that both groups are trying to avoid reducing a numerous amount of money that is being taken away till 2013. Something that is negative about this is how each group has different opinions, but atleast agree on one thing. I learned about the congress is that the two groups of Democrats and Replubicans take many meeting to decide what will happen with our government like how they did in one meeting to agree on trying to avoid the $1.2 trillion dollars to pay for deflicts reduce.

I read the article Despite Pledge Against Campaign Funding, Donations Flow From Starbucks Employees which was published on November 24, 2011. This article states that a congress leader wants voters to withhold money for federal politicians.According to the article large companies are pledging to congressional leaders to help for reelection and one congress man wants them to withhold the money donations but has not yet halted his donation. This is a negative article on congress because it is this congress officeholder telling voters to stop donating but he has not even done so for himself. I learned that some people who are in office are the exact thing they want to stop.

Having read the article, Mississippi to Vote on ‘Personhood’ Issue, which was published on Sunday November 3, 2011, it has given me a glance at what Congress does as well as the power it may have. The article was based on “person hood” which was the issue that a person (human being) was to be defined ” from the moment of fertilization, cloning or the functional equivalent thereof.” Both republicans as well as democrats agreed to this proposal. However, this proposal has failed twice before in Colorado due to the worries of those that suffer fatal consequences when impregnated as well as families that use VIF treatments. Many say this proposal is a good problem solver for those against abortion. However, a cosultant from the Mississippi Healthy Families opposes the ide due to the consequences above. It is said that this proposal consist of many unwanted flaws but doctors feel them to be a minor problems compared to the women purposely taking the life of innocents. Like i said before, democrats and republicans in congress have agreed to this proposal. However, Congress was very controversial at first as well with dealing with contradicting ideas. This article about Congress’s decision was neither negative or positive but it was informative of Congress’s decision. It was somehow skeptic so i would have to say it was more of a negative response to Congress.I learned that even though Congress can agree or disagree in a vote, it is not up to them to decide, but up to the people. The people seem to have more power but at the same time Congress’s vote may be extremely influential.

    1. I read the article Dollar forsees more money for medicaid which was published on November 09, 2011.
    2. Congress looking to cut funds from the Medicaid savings due to the deficit. Although cutting the funds would come short, even though both congress and patients would suffer. Dollar would later reliaze he has to make budget cuts on his own. Afterwards he blamed a former gov for his wrongs on this budget.
    3.negative
4.congress is in debt and contiunes as the number of jobs decreases.

I read the article Supreme Court Decision to End Health Care Debate, wich was posted on November 15,2011.According to the article “the wieght of the supreme court isnt likely to settle the contentious debate in America.” Republican leaders say they will be for its repeal, and that it will take an unconstitutional challenge to President Barack Obama. There’s a Plan B:” If the court strikes down the law’s unpopular linchpin – the so-called individual mandate requiring most Americans to carry health insurance – the administration would take whatever’s left and try to put that into in place.” It also says that starting in 2014 tax returns that the law has a penalty on the people who dont have coverage throught a government program or through their employers. Also, that the requirement that insurers accept people in poor health should be “invalidated”.What was positve about this article is that Congress expanded the Medicaid program for low-income people and got a system of tax credits for middle-class people who purchase their own policies. I learned about congress is that they can overstep its constitutional authority.

I read the aticle about Texas Asks Supreme Court to Stop Redistricting Plan which was publish on novemember 28,2011.the supreme court has been ask to stop implemeting state redistricting which increased texas legislature. These was requested on the court on monday and the court-draw challegened the plan passed down by the republicans.the map that its lead by the san antonio could lead to a great chance to add dozen of seats in the legislature but two leaders have denied the restricting of map power. This is a positove about the congress that are idscusing these situation. I learn that they will always be people in congress who will go against some ideas.

I read the article Congress’ OK of Big Spending Bill Shows GOP Split which was published on 11-18-11. Acording to the article congress had a tough time deciding how to spend money. They declined President Obama’s ideas to spend the money on things like healthier school lunches. They planned to increase taxes by 300 billion, which isn’t good. Some people said that the money will help put the economy back on track, others oposed this. The bill will also eliminate 20 federal programs. This shows that the article is negative towards congress. Lastly I learn that the country is in trouble and money is a big problem.

  •    Kreyes  |  November 29th, 2011 at 6:25 pm

I read the article “Candidates Focus on Debate Caution in YouTube Era”,wich was published on November 21, 2011.According to the article many White House candidates would have taken the oppurtunity to a presedential event but know they have to be careful with their actions and words. Many governers have had a gaffe,or mistake. For example Herman Cain, whose “Princess Nancy” comment about former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi came just as he was battling decade-old allegations of sexual harassment. This article is both negative and positive about the congress stateing some of the Governers mistakes and showing how they have to prepare themselves in ahead of time.I learned that Congress has to deal with a lot of social medias and how one mistake can change everything.

  •    jorozco  |  November 29th, 2011 at 6:57 pm

    1. I read the article “Congress Ok of big Spending Show GOP Split
    2. According to the article congress sent Obama a spending bill involving both republican and democratic parties that refers to central union power cut but many republican defenders emphasize
the arguments between the republican conservatives and pragmatists.
    3. This was positive.
    4. I learned that the congress supports both main parties.

  •    Raul Gomez  |  November 29th, 2011 at 8:13 pm

I read the article on yahoonews.com, which was published on 11/28/11. According to the article Republicans in Congress threw their support behind a payroll tax cut extension. It was a negative article about Congress because Congress is trying to blunt charges ahead of 2012 elections of favoring wealthy Americans over middle-class workers. I learned that Congress wants to extend taxes.

On November 28, 2011 Texas asked Supreme Court to stop redistricting plan. (Positive)The map drawn could lead to greater minority representation. (Negative)Legislatures say redistricting maps would take away the minorities voting power. The Court said the map will stay until the argument is over.

Congress does many things but its not popular because some people like myself have no idea whats going on or who some of the people are.

  •    racheldelatorre  |  November 29th, 2011 at 8:39 pm

I read the articl”congress ok’ of big spill of GOP split”
Which was published on November 18,2011. Acording to the article on Thursday there was higler party that wanted to pass a bill. I learned that you shouldnt judge a person ,title by how it looks or seems before learning about it /person. The negative of this is that thy are already looking at he people getting ready to be the next president. The positive of this is that they will check the spending issues

I read the article texas asks supreme court to stop redistricting plan published on november 11 2011. Texas wants the supreme court to stop the federal court from changes the redistricting plan off texas. This can increase minority representation. The regular plan let democratics to add seats to the legislative. i believe this is a negative article to congress. I learned they are trying to change many things.

  •    d.garcia  |  November 29th, 2011 at 9:44 pm

I read the article “Congess’ OK of Big Spending Bill Shows GOP Split” which was published on November 18,2011. According to the article, Congress wants to send the president a spending bill to stop that stops a federalist shutdown. People think that sending the bill will “help put our budget and economy back on track.” This article has a positive outlook on Congress, because it seems like Congress is trying to help us from having worse economy than we already have. I never knew that Congress kept track of the presidents spending as well as all of the USA. Also they have to try to make them balance out, so we don’t get worse on money issues.

  •    Matthew Gonzalez  |  November 29th, 2011 at 9:56 pm

I read the article, “Texas Asks Supreme Court to Stop Redistricting Plan”, which was published on November 28, 2011. According to the article, Gregg Abbott, the states attorny general, filed the report with the high court. Minority groups challenged the plan passed by Republican-dominated Legislature. The map drawn up by the San Antonio based federal court could add a dozen seats in Legislature for the Democrats and cause greater minority representation. This is a negative article on cogress. the court drawn maps have caused disagreement and argument with the Republicans.

  •    christian ybarra  |  November 29th, 2011 at 10:22 pm

The article I read did not talk about Congress, but it did talk about Herman Cain and a problem of his past that was affecting his presidential campaign. Cain was being accused of a extramarital affair with an Atlanta business woman. Although Cain refused to have any affairs with the woman, there was much doubt because he had been accused of this same problem by 3 other people and the business woman had his number. this article was focused on giving Cain a negative outlook and by this I learned that the government can be very dirty.

I read the article top marines says service embracing gay ban repeal which was published on 11.28.11
The article is about the U.S ban on gays serving openly in the military U.S marines. The top officer of the marines was talked about this subject when he was in afghanistan. He seems to be very opened minded about gays in thr marines. The marine corps believes that the repeal of the gay ban has changed values they had.
This is postive about congress because they are willing to let gays in the marines without judging.
I learned that congress is openinded about gays in the marines.

  •    Robert S  |  November 29th, 2011 at 11:12 pm

I read the article Top Marine Says Service Embracing Gay Ban Repeal pulished in November 28, 2011. This Congress talk about the gay ban that was serving the marine across the globe. The negative part it that the the top officer lie about this. the positive part that we no about it they are changnig the rule. i learn that every part of a Congress that some people are trying to to hide thier problem

  •    Israel Montiel  |  November 30th, 2011 at 12:56 am

I read the article “House Rejects Balanced Budget Proposal”, which was published on November 18. According to the article, The House of Representatives failed to pass a Proposal to amend the constitution so that it a balanced budget would be required. The proposal attempted to stop out of controll spending, but Democrats were quick to oppose the plan by saying that billions of dollars would be cut from social programs and that Congress would have to give its power to the court system because of debate over what to cut. On the other hand, supporters of the ammendment say that, because it would not go into effect until 2017, Congress would have had enough time avoid large spending cuts. This is a negative article about congress because it talks about the ammendment trying to decrease the $15 trillion national debt, but republicans opposing it. I learned that there is a very different amount of opinions between the Republicans and Democrats in Congress and that a budget plan or constitutional ammendment can have a great impact on the nation’s economy.

I read the article “Law makers seek social security check protections” which was published on November 21,2011. Acording to the article the SSA wanted to make sure that the adults and minors got it and not the unnesecary hands. This is a positive action that the congress took. I learned that the congress only wants to help people.
